A reflection on my reiki journey

There’s something beautifully cyclical about my Reiki journey. Each time I thought I had reached the edge of what Reiki could offer me, another doorway opened… and each doorway changed me in ways I never expected.

I first stepped onto this path in 2017 when I completed my Reiki 1. At the time, I simply knew I was searching for something deeper. I couldn’t have imagined then just how profoundly Reiki would shape my life. What began as curiosity quickly became a relationship, not just with energy, but with myself. Reiki softened parts of me that had long been guarded. It created space for healing, reflection, trust, and connection in ways I struggled to explain at the time, but deeply felt.

In 2018 I completed Reiki 2 and continued exploring the energy more deeply. My confidence grew, as did my understanding of how Reiki moves far beyond the treatment room. It began weaving itself into everyday life. Into the way I spoke, listened, held space, and navigated the world around me. Reiki was no longer simply something I did. It was becoming part of who I was.

But spiritual paths are rarely linear.

Over time, my practice began to feel stagnant. The connection was still there, but the spark had dimmed. Something inside me knew there was more waiting for me beyond what I had already experienced. And so, despite the fear that can come with starting over, I made the decision to begin again.

I chose to train with another Reiki Master and returned to the foundations, allowing myself to experience Reiki through completely new eyes. Looking back now, that choice changed everything. It reminded me that growth often asks us to release the idea that we already know enough. Sometimes we are called back to the beginning, not because we have failed, but because we are ready to deepen.

That journey eventually led me to Reiki 3 in December 2023 and into teaching. Teaching Reiki has become one of the greatest honours of my life. There is something incredibly special about witnessing people reconnect with themselves, awaken their intuition, and realise that healing is not something outside of them, but something already within them waiting to be remembered. But deep down I still felt there was something missing, something more.

Then, in September 2025, Reiki called me deeper once again through the profound magic of Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki®. Another wonderful Reiki Master entered my life and, alongside the spark of Holy Fire®, my passion for Reiki was reignited in the most powerful way. The combination of Karuna Reiki® and Holy Fire® Reiki transformed the way I practise, teach, and experience healing. The energy is truly expansive, intelligent, deeply loving, and ever evolving. And it was all of a sudden there. The knowledge that the energy itself is guiding the journey.

In March 2026, yet another doorway opened when I was called to train in Reiki Drum Technique™ with a wonderful friend. Bringing together two of my favourite things, Reiki and drumming, added an entirely new dimension to my work. Sound, rhythm, vibration, intuition, and energy woven together in sacred union. It felt ancient and familiar all at once, awakening something deeply rooted within me.

Perhaps that is the greatest lesson Reiki has taught me so far is that this journey is never truly complete. There is always another layer to uncover, another healing waiting to unfold, another doorway waiting to open when the time is right.

Today I teach Usui Holy Fire® Reiki and Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki®, sharing not only teachings and techniques, but lived experience. Watching others reconnect with themselves and awaken their own healing gifts is an incredible honour. Reiki continues to evolve alongside me, and it is a privilege to share the light that illuminated my own path, and guide others on their own journey with this beautiful energy.
