This CHOOSEDAY is Emotional Health Day.
This event is a powerful reminder to pause and check in with ourselves. In the middle of responsibilities, stress, and constant distractions, caring for our emotional health can easily be forgotten. Yet it shapes how we think, feel, connect with others, and handle life’s challenges.
Looking after your emotional health doesn’t require dramatic changes. Small, consistent habits make a big difference.
Here are my top tips!
Check in with your feelings
Ask yourself how you’re feeling. Naming your emotions helps you understand them better and prevents feelings from becoming overwhelming.
Write things down
Journalling can help you process thoughts, release stress, and gain clarity. Even writing a few sentences about your day can help.
Practise mindfulness
This helps you stay present instead of worrying about everything.
Move your body
A short walk, stretching, or gentle exercise can improve emotional balance and energy levels.
Stay connected
Sharing how you feel helps build stronger relationships and reminds you that you’re not alone.
Set healthy boundaries
Protecting your time and energy is essential. Learn to say no when needed!
Prioritise rest and sleep
Quality sleep plays a major role in emotional regulation. Try to maintain a regular sleep routine and allow yourself time to rest without guilt.
Focus on what you can control
Letting go of things outside your control reduces anxiety. Direct your energy toward actions and choices that support your wellbeing.
Practise self-compassion
Be kind to yourself, especially during difficult moments. Treat yourself with the same understanding and patience you would offer a friend.
Emotional Health Day reminds us that caring for our minds is just as important as caring for our bodies. By building small habits of self-awareness, connection, and self-care, we strengthen our resilience and create a healthier, more balanced life.
Your emotional wellbeing matters… Today and every day.
