Making Memories or Having Fun?

This CHOOSEDAY is inspired by a bench I came across on my travels over the weekend…
Along the Dumfries and Galloway coast, at low tide, you can cross the beach to a small island called Garvellan Rocks. On these rocks is a beautiful wooden bench with the words “We didn’t know we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun!” dedicated to a much loved lady who seems to have passed too soon. The quote, which I have since found out is from A A Milne, really got me thinking. Should we be trying to make memories or are these an accidental happening when we simply live our very best lives? I find that very often with things if we try too hard, it actually makes it harder. If we force the issue we also might get a different outcome than was meant for us if we had stepped back and let it come to us. The other thing of course is if we are trying to make memories, the very planning of them is not only limiting our potential experience, but could make us miss out on something very special. So what if, instead of trying to shape our lives, we just make the effort to simply live our lives? Keep the very best people around us. Have no expectations. Just do what makes us feel good. Do what makes us not only smile, but howl with laughter. And whilst we are having fun, just see what limitless possibilities may present themselves… After all, “life is what happens when we are busy making other plans”!!
