The Wilderness

It’s CHOOSEDAY again already!

With the Feel Good festival at the weekend I’ve kind of lost a day or two…

However, I remembered just in time and this CHOOSEDAY I am choosing the wilderness!

I was out walking with a friend yesterday. As we were walking back down the valley we were talking about how very wild it was. Rocky, barren, hardly any plants or trees. The path was difficult to negotiate and with the low cloud it was really atmospheric too…

But in that wilderness, there was such beauty. Bracken unfolded, the occasional burst of colour from a foxglove, lambs bleating for their mothers. And the most striking emerald pools, perfect for a quick dip!

Just before we got back to the car, we stopped by a small church. It allowed for a time of reflection. There was a poem/prayer on the wall of the church that I would like to share a part of …

“This is a time of fond surprise for hearts and minds and ears and eyes, where what's gone wrong can be forgiven and what's to come is glimpsed or given as earth makes room for more of heaven.

This is a place and space and time for paths to walk and fells to climb, for us to find a better view of all that's good and just and true and let God's spirit make all new.”

It got me thinking that being in the wilderness is a complete mirror of our lives…

The path may be awkward and rocky and difficult to navigate, but when we take our time and stop to look around, there are always small bursts of beauty to keep us interested and motivated ⛰️🐉💚
