The year of the Wood Snake

The Wood Snake is arriving tomorrow so this CHOOSEDAY I thought I’d share some thoughts on what this might mean for us!

I read a post which started “Spoiler Alert! This isn’t your friendly neighbourhood garden snake here to eat pests and mind its business. Oh no. This is a venom dripping, scales polished for the apocalypse, mess with me and I’ll make your entire year regret it kind of energy”.

Immediately I was thinking oh my goodness, that’s a bit extreme! So naturally, I had to look into this a little further. Are we really in for a rough ride? Well… there does seem to be a theme surrounding our new friend the Wood Snake. There is a lot of duality. On the one hand the snake is representative of darkness and yin. Some myths and legends even say that the poisonous snake is an evil woman seducing man to suck the yang to balance their yin. However, on the other hand, snakes are seen as positive omens. A shed skin can be called a dragon’s coat symbolising good fortune, rebirth and majesty. The wood element also gives rise to fire. This interconnection creates a complex little snake embodying traits of both wood and fire.

This year brings with it the wisdom, intuition and opportunity for growth.

The year of the snake is the universe’s way of telling us to get our act together. This is the year to get rid of everything that does not serve you. Ask yourself, what does it bring to my life? If the answer is “not a lot”, why would you keep it? Stand in your truth. Don’t let others drag you down or make you doubt yourself. Your intuition doesn’t lie, so trust it! The world is a crazy place right now, and seemingly will get worse before it gets better. Don’t fight it. Don’t panic. Shed, adapt and transform! Follow the snake and stay calm, change your perspective and slither your way through. And be bold while you are doing it! It’s amazing what you can survive, and it can even make you thrive!🐍🐉💚
